SCTH has recently announced that it will continue to
receive entries of competitors for Saudi Colors Awards for photography and
tourism films (6th Session) until Oct. 28, 2017, and the total amount of awards
has been increased to SR 1.2 million.
Interested photographers, who wish to participate in
the contest, can register their work through the official website of the
competition (WWW.COLORS.SA), which also provides information and details about
the competitions in both Arabic and English.
Saudi Colors competitions are aimed at using the art
of photography in raising people’s awareness towards Kingdom’s natural and
heritage tourism potentials. It is a serious attempt to discover and support
promising national talent in photography and filmmaking, as well as increase
national interest in tourism, and documenting the culture and heritage of the
In its sixth edition, the Saudi Colors Awards
competitions will witness featuring of new themes in both the tourism films and
photography. Many improvements are
made in a number of themes and categories in an effort to motivate talents of
artists, amateur and professional photographers in varied areas fields that is
intended to contribute to highlighting the cultural and natural tourism
potentials of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the art of photography.
Noteworthy, in July 2017, when SCTH began receiving
competitors’ works, it had announced an increase in value of the Saudi Colors
awards for tourism films to SR 550,000.
This is to encourage and support the short tourism films producers and
photographers. It also has increased the number of award categories to seven.
The first category for short feature films, second one for culture and
heritage, the third for films on nature, the fourth for tourism destinations,
and the fifth devoted to theme, Saudi
Each of the five previous categories receives a sum
of SR 100,000 cash award, while the sixth category will be decided by public
vote and receives a sum of SR 50,000.
The seventh category includes business films of which three winning films
will be selected, and each winner will be awarded a shield.
The total value of the prizes for still photography
as reached SR 740,000, which will be divided among the winners of various
categories, including ‘cultural heritage’, ‘Saudi Arabia today’, ‘Saudi Arabia
from the Sky’, “Saudi Arabia in the Global Eyes’, ‘Smart phone photography
competition’ and a private competition to be voted by the public. The number of
winners in each theme has been reduced to three, in an effort to increase the
competitiveness of participants.
The Saudi Colors Forum is the biggest national event
on photography and its works will be utilized in highlighting the cultural,
natural, heritage and touristic potential of the Kingdom, as well to enhance
citizen’s knowledge on his homeland, and introduce expatriates to local
tourism, additionally, create market for tourism products and destinations,
while highlighting the distinctive diversity of the kingdom. – SCTA
