The establishment of this museum goes back to 1387H, as
part of the activity of history and archeology in society. When the Antiquity Department was
established in the College of Arts in 1397–98 H, this museum has become part
of this department.
Collection of the first group of antiquities has come
into existence through:
· Scientific trips to some archeological sites inside the
Kingdom.
· Archeological discoveries made by the department staff in FAO
and Rabza.
· Gifts and donations.
The main objective behind establishing the museum was
to train the department students on different branches of archeology in
addition to organization and museum presentation as well as maintenance of
archeological pieces. The museum
is divided into sections:
· FAO exhibited Articles Section:
This section contains the articles found in FAO Village
during various excavations.
These include drawings of rocks, engraftments, clay utensils,
ornaments, metals and others.
· Rabza exhibited Articles:
This section includes the articles found in Rabza
Islamic Site such as clay utensils, coins and other found articles.
