The number of
Postal centers for the year 1418-1419H, has reached to 78 main office and 118
offices which carry out postal works and duties. The number of authorized postal agencies
within Riyadh city for the year 1418-1419H has reached to 26 postal agencies
out of the total number of 64 agencies all over the Kingdom, which perform
all the postal services. They are licensed to open post office boxes for
subscribers not more than 54,000 P.O. Boxes, that is 2,000 P.O. Boxes as an average
for each agency and to be under the management of private sector and under
the supervision of the General Postal Directorate (GPD).
Kinds of the Postal Services
Rendered Dispatch
of Postal Letters, they are classified as letters, aerogram, postal cards,
small parcels, non–periodicals, prints and newspapers, periodical prints and
books for blind people.
Parcel Postal
The parcel is a
very tightly closed dispatch. It does not contain documents and has the
character of personal and timely correspondences or good classified as
prohibited, there may be another definition; the parcel is that which
contains valuable things and an extra fee can be taken which is called
insurance fee. The parcel will be given a special treatment as from
depositing it into the office of origin till its delivery to the in receiving
office.
Express Mail
This is one of the
postal services characterized by specialty and reliability. This service will
be rendered to clients who are concerned with the continuous rapid received
in the Kingdom or abroad, an additional mailing charges will be paid by such
clients for such service.
Commercial Mail
These services
aimed to meet the requirements of beneficiary to get by easy ways, very
quickly answers in response to their letters without assuming any efforts or
financial responsibility on the part of consignee. This will allow those
consignees to respond smoothly without the need for postal release. Thus it
is considered the better method for establishing a direct dialogue among the
establishments and firms, Companies and individuals.
Advantages of the Services
· Organizing
advertising companies through mail by sending advertising correspondences to
concerned persons (C.C.R.I).
· Saving time and
costs. The envelopes and postal cards have printed addresses with the word
"Prepaid".
· Promoting sales,
opening new markets, and winning permanent clients for post.
Advertising Mail
The companies and
establishments that produce goods, merchandise and send several services in
great numbers to certain consumers at a time and to unknown ones at other
times using mail as a means of advertisements and promoting their product.
This is called advertising mail. It is, often of two kinds:
· Advertising
dispatches directed to certain individuals or firms which is called the
direct mail by using "addresses" lists.
· Un-addressed
advertising dispatches which are of less charged than the first kind due to
their easy sorting in subscribe boxes or their places of residence at random
follow up system.
Tracing Postal
Dispatches
This service is
performed by using internet technique which provides more practical method
and less costs, by finding the locations of Postal Departments who are
members in the web in order to facilitate the tracing of the Postal
Dispatches being already sent.
Postal Agencies
They are special
establishments performing the works of Posts Office in a certain location
according to a contract between Ministry of P.T.T and those agencies that are
licensed and authorized to offer postal Services in this location.
