Health services and
Medical research are centered in Riyadh City. In the year 1418H, there are
forty-eight (48) hospitals in addition to 287 Primary Care Centers and 195
Private Dispensaries. Advanced surgical operations are currently performed in
the city hospitals, such as endoscope operation and open cardiology
operations, kidney, and liver plantation treatment of tumors. The health care
facilities in Riyadh are benefiting from the support given by medical
research centers and handicaps rehabilitation centers. The number of beds in
hospitals of Riyadh has been increased according to both Ministry of Health and Private sector
from 5,975 in 1417H to 6,145 in 1418H, that is rate of increase of 2.8%
annually.
In 1417H the number
of physicians and dentists in these hospitals were 3,471. The number of
Ministry of Health and other governmental department's hospitals were 38 and
10 for private sector. The city is including a hospital for sporting medicine
affiliated to General Youth Welfare Presidency.
