Riyadh embraces
many of cultural and intellectual minarets like National Museum, King
Abdulaziz Darat, cultural center in Al Ghota (Prince Faisal Cultural Center),
literary club Prince Faisal bin Fahad, center for pubic arts. King Fahad
National Library, King Abdulaziz General Library and about of fifty (50)
other libraries.
Fifty five (55) of
daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly newspapers, periodicals and magazines
are issued in Riyadh such as Riyadh, Jazeera, Riyadh Daily, Yamama, Daawa,
Arabic magazine, Al Faisal, Arab Magazine, Darat and Riyadh Commerce
magazines issued by Riyadh Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the benefit
of economical activities. In addition to this, considerable number of governmental
departments and specialized centers publications.
Riyadh City has
been selected as the capital of Arabic Culture in 2000A.D. during that year
many intellectual activities have been conducted, which lasted after the end
of that year. Among these activities are cultural programs by King Abdulaziz
Darat, King Fahad National Library, National Museum, King Faisal Charitable
Foundation including a distinguished Cultural program since this foundation
awards annually rewards and prizes for distinguished innovators from all over
the world in science, literature and service of Islam.
Riyadh City as well
embraces annually the national heritage and cultural festival at
Al–Janadriya. This festival is characterized as being a chief cultural
occasion in the Kingdom interposed by intellectual and poetic forums. The
capital invites Arabic, Islamic and worldly personalities to participate in
the numerous specialized symposiums. Intellectual activities occurring
(simultaneously) with the revival of traditional industries at the nearby
Janadriya village. Its activities received greater demand by citizens and
visitors.
Riyadh City
contains numerous Sports facilities (40 Sports Club) and Recreational and
Cultural organizations. This fact entitles the city to entertain Conferences,
Championship and Arabic Regional and international meetings. Among the
distinguished organizations in the city are King Fahad International Stadium,
Sports court, King Fahad National Library, Saudi Arabian Association
Headquarters for Culture and Arts having many halls, playgrounds, popular
areas, and various cultural organizations. There are three hundred (300)
public gardens in Riyadh, 200 museums public spaces and play grounds being
distributed to the capital quarters.
Riyadh City accommodate
a number of Sport clubs aiming to attract youths to practice and exercise
various cultural, social and sport activities and are directed to local,
international and Arabic contests. These clubs are; Hilal, Youth (Shabab),
Riyadh and Nasr clubs. These clubs were of limited capabilities residing in
buildings of not more than two or three rooms. Nevertheless, they own today
model-sporting headquarters provided with football stadium that accommodate
about (10) thousand spectators, racetracks, swimming pools and diving and
physical training playgrounds, indoor courts for schwas provided with rest
platforms and first aid rooms, offices for supervisors and other closed
playgrounds for handball, basketball, volleyball and tennis.
In addition to
these playgrounds in Riyadh City, there exists Al-Saegh playground, which is
the oldest one in Riyadh. Riyadh invites and hosts numerous Arabic and
International championships. Riyadh has the precedence to invite such
regional, Arabic, Continental and international championships. Riyadh as
well, organized many friendly sporting contests and Gulf States sporting
rounds.
