King Abdulaziz Center reflects
the historical era of the Kingdom and reminds the new generation of
security and prosperity as well as reflecting the national culture of the
Kingdom. The center also play
prominent role in identifying Islam, civilization, and the history of the
Arabian Peninsula. It encourages the Saudi citizens to continue the march
of construction. The
commission supervised all phases of construction of this historical
center. It was furnished with
all necessary facilities and modern equipment.

Public Park
The park and green surface area form the
basic structure of King Abdulaziz Historical Center that contributes in
purifying the air and providing green surface in the center of the
city. The park consist of five
main garden, open garden, furnished main court, palm oasis in addition to
water stream.
National Museum
The national museum has been established to
enrich the educational march and identifying the message of Islam and the
history of Arabian Peninsula.
The national museum was established so that it could be a national
landmark at the level of the whole Kingdom in order to enrich the culture and
educational march. The museum concentrates mainly on the history of Arabian
Peninsula. It consists of
eight auditoriums as well as two auditoriums for permanent display.
The area of the museum is 17,000
square-meters at the eastern side of King Abdulaziz historical center
whereas the total area of its main building reached 28,000 square-meters.
The museum provide modern environment at different levels. It contains a lot of antiques,
documents, manuscripts, documentary films and Audio-Visual Systems.
Man and Universe
Auditorium
This auditorium contains four sections for
display: the first section is
allocated for the creation of the universe and the earth and the natural
elements, which affect the formation of earth surface. It also contains samples return to
millions of years in the second section. The natural environment at the kingdom constitutes the
main subject of the third section.
The last section allocated for the ancient antiques, which has been
discovered in the Kingdom.
The Ancient
Arabian Kingdoms Auditorium
This auditorium reviews the era extended from
the year 6000 BC to the year 2000BC of the history of the Arabian Peninsula
at three sections: The first
section allocated for the ancient civilization in peninsula, the second
section allocated for the middle Arabian kingdoms and finally the third
section reviews the late Arabian kingdoms.
Pre- Islamic
Auditorium
This auditorium represents the pre-Islamic
era. The visitor of this
auditorium will be aware of the religious, social and political life at
that era. In addition, this
section reviews the important towns such as Makkah.
Prophet’s Mission
Auditorium
The subject of this auditorium pertaining
with Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
It starts with his birthday and his rising. Then review the prominent incidents
of his biography.
Islam and Arabian
Peninsula Auditorium
The subject of this auditorium starts with
the advent of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) in Madinah and establishing his
Mosque. It also contains the
prominent incidents during the Prophet’s era until his death. All these information could be
found at the first section.
The second section is allocated for the era of the caliphs. The next wing represent Amawi,
Abbasi, Mamaleek, and Uthmani era.
First and Second
Saudi State Auditorium
This era represent the advent of first Saudi
State after the establishment of Diriyah by Imam Mohammed bin AbdulWahab
and Imam Mohammed bin Saud. It
contains the most significant incidents of the state until its fall. The first wing reviews the
incidents of the second Saudi until its fall on the hand Ibrahim
Basha. The second wing reviews
the prominent incidents during the era of the second Saudi State since its
foundation by Imam Turki bin Abdullah until its fall when Imam Abdul Rahman
left Riyadh–city.
Kingdom
Unification Auditorium
This era starts by retrieving Riyadh by King
Abdulaziz on fifth of Shawwal in 1319H when he declared the new Saudi
State. This auditorium is
distinguished with circular design whereas the Kingdom regions appear on its
outside surroundings. At the
center of auditorium, a documentary film, about the battles of unification,
is being displayed.
Hajj and the Two
Holy Mosques Auditorium
In this auditorium, the
historical development of the two Holy Mosques has been reviewed. In
addition to that, it contains a profile about the Hajj rites and historical
architectural development of the two Holy Mosques during Saudi State and
various eras.
Museum and
Antiquities Agency
A separate building was constructed for
Museum and antiquities agency.
This building is linked with the national museum but it does not
subject the museum administration.
It was constructed on an area of 3,000 square-meters and consists of
two stories: The ground flour is allocated for administration sections and
research and the other story is allocated for innovation and registration
sections.
Qasr Al-Murabb’a
The existing Qasr Al-Murabb’a is deemed as
the most important element of the center from historical point of
view. It was built in 1355H
when King Abdulaziz decided to build a residential compound including
service building, King Abdulaziz court, and Qasr Al-Murabb’a surrounded by
a wall consolidated by towers.
In 1357H, King Abdulaziz and his family removed into the
palace. His court has
witnessed significant era of Kingdom history and hosted a number of kings
and presidents of the Arab and Islamic countries.
King Abdulaziz
Center
This center was at the western
side of the main area of the project in the site of the residential place
of King Abdulaziz on a land estimated of 7,000 square-meters. The area of its building is 1,201
square-meters. This building
was redesigned so that it retains the basic features. It also contains administration
building as well as the library, service and research section, King
Abdulaziz memorial auditorium, and King Abdulaziz Center.
King Abdulaziz center is an
independent body established by the royal decree N0 45/m on fifth Sha’aban
in 1392H, in the memory of King Abdulaziz. The main job of this center is to serve history,
geography, literature, thinking and architectural affects, of the kingdom
of Saudi Arabia besides the history of the Arabian Peninsula and the Arab
history as general. In
addition to that, the center is interested in collecting and classifying
historical resources pertaining Saudi States. The center also issues a special magazine for developing
research and scientific studies pertaining the Kingdom inheritance and
Islamic world as general.
King Abdulaziz
Memorial Auditorium
This auditorium was established since the
foundation of the center in order to review the history of King Abdulaziz
and his thinking effects besides pointing out personal attitudes in his
biography.
King Abdulaziz
Public Library
King Abdulaziz public library is a charitable
library established by HRH Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and it was opened
in 1408H. According to success
that has been achieved by the library, it was decided to construct a branch
at King Abdulaziz historical center.
The library is located on the southern part of the center. Its total area estimated of
98,000square-meters. It
provides its services for both-genders men, women and children. This library consists of reading
halls, Audio-Visual hall, manuscript hall, as well as multi-purpose hall
serving cultural activities.
The hall is furnished with separate administrative offices for male
and female.
Lecture
Auditorium
The lecture auditorium was established at the
southern part of King Abdulaziz historical center. It overlooks the general park at
the southern part of the center.
There is special entrance for women. The hall is also set up for
hosting international conference, symposium, and dramatic activities. In addition, it was equip with
modern display equipments and instant translation unit.
King Abdulaziz
Mosque
It is located at the eastern part of the main
yard south Qasr Al-Murabb’a.
It overlooks King Saud street from the northern direction. The mosque accommodates about 4,200
worshipers. It was rebuilt in
a modern design at the late eighties of the past Hegira century. Finally, it was repaired and
rehabilitated entirely.
Water Tower
The water tower is located at the
southeastern of the public park and is furnished with a restaurant at its
top surface after performing the required reforms. Additional new building has been
constructed at the strip parallel to King Faisal to accommodate restaurant
complex. This building was
constructed in 1391H, in order to increase water pressure in the water
system to meet additional requirement for water consumption.
